Digital Television (DTV) Digital Television

(DTV) is an exciting new digital broadcast standard that provides enormously improved picture and sound quality compared to current broadcast standards. DTV technology will allow broadcasters to offer television with high-quality picture and CD-quality sound, along with an assortment of other enhancements. The new DTV standard allows broadcasters the choice of transmitting single program High Definition Television (HDTV) or multiple Standard Definition Television (SDTV) programs. DTV technology can also be used to transmit large amounts of other data into a location, which may be accessible by a PC or television set. Advantages of DTV over analog TV include: * Superior image resolution (detail) for a given bandwidth * Smaller bandwidth for a given image resolution * Compatibility with computers and the Internet * Interactivity * Superior audio quality * Consistency of reception over varying distances

High Definition Television (HDTV)

HDTV is the highest level of Digital Television. HDTV at a minimum delivers up to 1,080 scan lines of today's TV signals as well as six times the resolution. HDTV allows TV screens to have the same 16:9 aspect ratio (wide) of movie theater screens – which equates to about a third wider than the 4:3 aspect ratio of today's TV screens - allowing you to watch movies as they were originally intended without formatting. HDTV provides a higher quality display with a vertical resolution display from 720p to 1080i. The p stands for progressive scanning, which means that each scan includes every line for a complete picture, and the i stands for interlaced scanning which means that each scan includes alternate lines for half a picture. These rates translate into a frame rate of up to 60 frames per second, twice that of conventional television. One of HDTV's most prominent features is its wider aspect ratio (the width to height ratio of the screen) of 16:9, a development based on research showing that screens that are wider enhance the viewer’s experience. HDTV pixel numbers range from one to two million, compared to Standard Definition Television (SDTV's) range of 300,000 to one million. In terms of audio quality, HDTV receives, reproduces, and outputs Dolby Digital 5.1.Thus, simply adding Dolby Digital surround sound, and HDTV allows you to enjoy movies, sports and other TV programs in ways in which you never dreamed were possible. Ethernet Standard for Distributed Audio?

Believe It. Sound Concepts can deliver and create an ‘In house (location)’ installation of Distributed Audio. As a major force driving the growth of the custom installation industry over the past decade, the component opportunities are now here.

We have vendor receivers and appliance systems that completely redefined the way custom installers centralize and distribute audio in consumer's homes (locations)

Rather than designing yet another complicated system of wiring and system control, our vendor solution has created a system that is completely compliant with Ethernet, the universal standard for commercial and home PC networks. Using this all-digital infrastructure provides improved audio quality, simplified wiring and system setup, seamless integration with home PC networks to deliver internet radio, and a straightforward dedicated music server for a centralized music library.

Using our vendor solution components, all audio and control signals are transferred entirely in the digital domain, eliminating the signal degradation that inevitably occurs in conventional systems as remote locations get further from the central source, or 'server.' Signals at remote zones are received and decoded by inexpensive and easy-to-use clients, which are available in several forms.

If the current Ethernet setup and protocols, including Cat-5 cable, PC wireless systems, phone lines, and even power lines are already in place, our installers can design and implement on your existing working interface.

Market demand is allowing the growing popularity of IP-based control systems (TCP/IP control) to be the perfect solution for these applications. With the addition of Wi-Fi (short for "wireless fidelity") the popular term for a high-frequency wireless local area network (WLAN). Imagine the Custom solution designs that can be created.
